Lauderdale Cycling Club are supporting Tour de Lauder in the running of the 2020 Tour de Lauder kids cycling event.
The Cully Cross - Primary 1 to Secondary 6 children:
Participants must be able to ride on two wheels only & will have the opportunity to participate in three mini events;
They will have an option to compete for the Cully Cross trophies if desired; a skills zone and a fun activity all run by our coaches.
The events will run 10 am -12 noon; with half an hour for each event.
All children will have the opportunity to try everything and will be organised in groups and each group will rotate around the activities.
The Mini Cully Cross - For our younger budding preschool cyclists:
We will be running a Mini Cully Cross skills circuit between 10 and 11 am. This will be suitable for balance bikes, bikes with stabilisers or two wheeled bikes.
Entry to each event is £5 and MUST be paid during bike checks and registration - these checks will be at registration on Friday 24th April from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at the Football Pavilion in Lauder.
All children must have a parent/carer present throughout the morning- this is NOT a ‘drop and go’ event. Thank you very much for your support.
If you have any queries at all please email email@example.com.
Please note: If you are arriving by car - there is no access to the castle grounds after 8:30 am. We recommend you arrive by 8:30 am (there will be riders to cheer off before the kids activities start).
If you intend to arrive between 8:30 am and 9:30 am please access the grounds on foot via the ‘Fairy Gates’ - these are are located at the bottom of The Avenue in Lauder.
We cannot guarantee the weather so please make sure children and spectators are suitably dressed for the weather conditions on the day. We suggest:

Warm waterproof jacket.
Please bring a water bottle. Water will be available for refills from jerry cans.
We will have some home baking and fruit but you may wish to bring a sandwich or more substantial snack.
You may want to bring a flask containing a hot drink. Hot chocolate/tea/coffee will be available to purchase from the vans at the castle.
To participate in this year’s kids event and to ensure the safety of the riders it is essential that all participants’ bikes are in good working order. A mandatory bike check must be completed by one of our qualified coaches to avoid disappointment on the day.
These checks will be at registration on Friday 24th April from 5.30pm - 7.30pm at the Football Pavilion in Lauder.
To avoid disappointment on the day it is essential that your child's bike complies with the following:
Tyres are pumped correctly
Wheels spokes are all intact
Saddle is not loose
Pedals are on tight and spin smoothly
Front and back wheels spin smoothly and freely
The bike chain runs smoothly
Both front and back brakes work
There are no cracks in the frame of the bike
Handlebars are not loose
Handlebars MUST have bar ends in place (these are the plugs at the end of the handlebars)
Once your child's bike has passed the bike check and the entry fee has been paid - you will receive your bike number.
